The First Scheduled Flight Between Iran and Saudi Arabia After 9 Years
WANA (Dec 03) – The first scheduled direct flight from Mashhad to Dammam, after a nine-year hiatus, landed at Dammam International Airport at noon on Tuesday, December 3, local Saudi time, marking the resumption of passenger exchanges between the two countries.
The Deputy Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Riyadh, along with representatives from Iran Air and the Saudi aviation authority, welcomed the flight in Dammam, emphasizing the need to facilitate travel between the two nations.
According to the Iranian Embassy in Riyadh, the resumption of direct flights between the two countries was achieved through efforts by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization, and Iran Air, with cooperation from relevant Saudi authorities.
As per the agreement, these flights will operate twice a week, transporting passengers between Dammam and Mashhad.
Later today, passengers will depart for Mashhad on the same aircraft, marking another step in implementing agreements between the two countries.
