Turkish Filmmakers Seeking Collaboration with Iranian Cinema
WANA (Nov 08) – The prospect of collaboration between Iran and Turkey in film production has recently garnered increased attention from both countries’ cinema officials.
This growing interest comes on the heels of the successful release of “Intoxicated by Love” (Mast-e Eshgh), a joint project between Iran and Turkey. Originally planned as a TV series, the project was ultimately completed as a feature film despite various challenges, receiving positive reactions from audiences.
Previously, the film “Sing Me a Love Song” (Taraneh-ye Asheghaneh Barayam Bekhan) was also produced through collaboration between the two nations, and discussions are now underway regarding the development of a mini-series adaptation of the film.
This collaboration is significant as it helps to project Iranian culture beyond its borders. The enthusiasm of Turkish filmmakers to work with Iranian cinema is particularly notable.
Many Turkish directors and producers closely follow Iranian films, finding a unique appeal in the presence of realistic, relatable heroes—something often missing in the fantasy-driven narratives of Western cinema.
Turkish filmmakers believe that Iran boasts the most distinguished cinema in the Islamic world, and they are eager to expand their cooperation with Iran to create more collaborative projects.
