WANA (Oct 26) – In the aftermath of Israel’s recent airstrikes targeting military sites in Iran, both the United States and the United Kingdom have issued statements that emphasize the critical need for restraint and diplomatic dialogue.

In Washington, a spokesperson for the U.S. National Security Council clarified that the United States had no involvement in the Israeli operation. “The U.S. did not participate in this operation,” the spokesperson stated, emphasizing that the U.S. priority remains reducing tensions in the Middle East through increased diplomacy.

The spokesperson further urged Iran to cease any retaliatory attacks on Israel, stating, “We call on Iran to halt its attacks on Israel so that this cycle of conflict can be broken without further escalation.”

Meanwhile, in London, a spokesperson for the British government took a more measured stance, stressing the importance of de-escalation. “We support Israel’s right to defend and protect itself in accordance with international humanitarian law,” the spokesperson said but warned that further escalation would benefit no one. The British government underscored that continued hostilities would only deepen instability in an already volatile region.

Both statements reflect a shared international call for restraint, with both the U.S. and U.K. advocating diplomatic solutions over military actions in the hope of stabilizing the region.

In the wake of Israel’s recent airstrikes on Iranian soil, statements from Western powers have predictably circled back to a familiar narrative: affirming Israel’s “right to defend itself” under international law. These declarations, though officially neutral, carry a weight of partiality.

This is while if Iran responds to the attack on its own soil, they immediately issue statements against Iran, condemning it and claiming that Iran is escalating tensions. When Iran has previously warned of consequences should Israel persist in its provocations, these cautions went unheeded.

Now, the world waits to see if Iran will hold to its word and if, as Major General Hossein Salami, Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), stated, Israel has taken another step toward its own ruin.
