WANA (Apr 01) – The U.S. Department of the Treasury has sanctioned two individuals and six entities based in Iran, the UAE, and China over alleged links to Iran’s drone industry.

In a statement released today, the Treasury Department announced the latest sanctions against Iran. According to the statement published on the department’s website, the sanctioned individuals and entities are accused of being involved in supplying components for Iran’s drone production.

Washington claims that the targeted individuals and companies played a role in “procuring” items necessary for manufacturing Iranian drones.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bassett further alleged, “Iran’s drone and missile production, along with their transfer to its proxies and terrorist affiliates in the region, as well as to Russia for use against Ukraine, pose a serious threat to civilians, U.S. military personnel, our allies, and partners.”

He added, “The Treasury Department will continue to disrupt Iran’s military-industrial complex and its production of drones, missiles, and conventional weapons, which often end up in the hands of destabilizing actors, including terrorist groups.”

According to the Treasury’s statement, Rah Reshad International Trading Development Company, its director Hossein Akbari, and Abbas Yousefnejad have been sanctioned.

Additionally, several companies and entities in the United Arab Emirates and China have been sanctioned for allegedly facilitating the procurement and transfer of materials needed for Iranian drone production.
