WANA (May 06) – Fatemeh Mohajerani, spokesperson for the Iranian government, described the U.S. sanctions as unilateral, arbitrary, and contrary to the principles of international law during today’s press conference. Emphasizing that there is no excessive optimism about the indirect negotiations with the U.S., she stated: “The dishonesty of the Americans has been proven many times.”

Iran’s Red Lines in Nuclear Talks

Mohajerani emphasized that Iran’s red lines in the negotiations are clear: “We are only negotiating over the nuclear issue. Our nuclear program is peaceful, and this is the right of the Iranian people. We remain committed to diplomacy, and the other side must demonstrate goodwill.”

Impact of U.S. Sanctions on Diplomatic Process

Regarding the impact of Trump’s oil sanctions on the negotiations, Mohajerani said: “These U.S. sanctions are not new and target the Iranian people. We have taken the necessary measures to counter them and are prepared for all scenarios. From Iran’s side, the negotiations face no obstacles, and we are waiting for the statement of Oman’s foreign minister to continue the process; the delay in talks has been due to technical and logistical reasons.

U.S. Attempts to Isolate Iran

In response to a question about the U.S. efforts to isolate Iran, she stated: “The presence of 110 countries at Iran’s exhibition and the broad participation of African nations in the investment conference are signs of Iran’s diplomatic success and the failure of U.S. pressure.”

Iran Commitmmited to Peaceful Nuclear Program

Reacting to U.S. officials’ statements about banning uranium enrichment and imposing new sanctions, she stressed: “U.S. sanctions are unilateral, arbitrary, and contrary to the principles of international law, and they show that the U.S. is a violator of human rights and an example of international terrorism.”

She continued: “We remain committed to our pledge of peaceful use of nuclear energy and defend our people’s rights. We are not overly optimistic, because the dishonesty of the Americans has been proven many times.”

Daily Tehran-Baku Flights Launched

Mohajerani announced that following President Pezeshkian’s recent visit to Baku, daily flights between Tehran and Baku will begin as part of expanded economic cooperation.
