WANA (July 18) – Ms. Joyce Msuya, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations for Humanitarian Affairs, met with Ali Bagheri, Acting Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and appreciated Tehran’s “constructive” role in humanitarian issues, emphasizing the importance of continuing bilateral and multilateral cooperation in this field.

Ali Bagheri, the Acting Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, met with Ms. Joyce Msuya, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations for Humanitarian Affairs, during his trip to New York to continue diplomatic consultations.

In this meeting, Bagheri referred to the killing of innocent people in Gaza by the Zionist regime as a clear example of the genocide of Palestinians and their forced displacement. He emphasized the need for the international community to pay attention to these crimes and take immediate action to prevent their continuation.

The Acting Foreign Minister of Iran added that the current situation is intolerable and that the attacks by the Zionist regime and efforts to displace the people of Gaza must be stopped immediately. He stressed the necessity of sending sufficient humanitarian aid urgently, stating that the attacks by the Zionist regime on the people of Gaza are retaliatory and that there is no chance of victory for this regime in the war.

He noted that these actions only increase the costs for the US government, which is the main supporter of this regime and responsible for the ongoing genocide and humanitarian disaster.

Bagheri also called for strong and immediate UN management to fully lift the blockade of the Rafah border and send humanitarian aid to Gaza. He said that the UN can rely on the capacity of the Islamic Republic of Iran to achieve peace and security in the region.

Ms. Joyce Msuya, the Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations for Humanitarian Affairs, expressed her pleasure at the meeting and outlined the efforts of the United Nations, its Secretary-General, and herself regarding humanitarian issues and the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.

The UN’s Acting Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator emphasized the need to strengthen efforts to stop the war and end the current worrying situation.

Ms. Msuya concluded by appreciating the constructive role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in humanitarian issues and stressed the importance of continuing bilateral and multilateral cooperation in this field.
