The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Hans Grundberg met with Seyed Abbas Araghchi during his visit to Tehran. In the meeting, Araghchi reaffirmed Iran’s support for the UN’s role and efforts in improving the situation in Yemen.
Araghchi criticized the repeated airstrikes by the United States, the United Kingdom, and Israel on Yemen’s infrastructure, describing them as a blatant violation of Yemen’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, international law, and the UN Charter. He stated that such acts of force and lawlessness, aligned with supporting Israel’s genocide in Gaza, pose an unprecedented threat to regional peace and security, with consequences affecting all nations in the region.
The UN Special Envoy for Yemen expressed his gratitude for Iran’s stance and attention to stability and security in the region, especially in Yemen. He also provided a report on his recent visit to Sana’a and the UN’s efforts to establish peace and calm in Yemen, highlighting the importance of continued consultations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
