WANA (Oct 19) – In a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi emphasized the necessity of close cooperation between Iran and Turkey to stop the atrocities and genocide perpetrated by Israel.

 

The meeting, held on Friday, October 18, in Istanbul, was part of Araghchi’s visit to Turkey for the 3+3 Regional Cooperation Mechanism foreign ministers’ summit, as well as official meetings with Turkish high-ranking officials. During the discussions, both sides addressed bilateral relations and recent regional developments.

 

Araghchi conveyed greetings from Iran’s President, Masoud Pezeshkian, to Erdoğan and stressed the need to strengthen regional cooperation and expand bilateral trade, economic, and tourism ties.

 

He also called for coordination between Iran and Turkey, as two influential countries in the region and the Islamic world, to counter the threats posed by Israel’s aggressive actions.

 

Araghchi underscored the urgent need for international action to stop Israel’s ongoing violence in Gaza and Lebanon, describing immediate measures to curb Israel’s war escalation as critical.

 

“The coordination between key regional countries, particularly Iran and Turkey, is essential for making decisions and taking urgent actions to stop Israel’s war machine,” Araghchi stated.

 

In response, President Erdoğan also conveyed his greetings to the President of Iran and emphasized the importance of close and serious cooperation between Iran and Turkey, as two key regional countries, in stopping the genocide and crimes committed by the Israeli regime.

 

He also reiterated Turkey’s strong commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation and voiced his support for the continued expansion of relations in all areas, particularly economic and trade, while addressing some existing obstacles.
