Russian Embassy Urges Swift Action After Dagestani Driver’s Murder in Iran
WANA (Dec 22) – The Russian Embassy in Tehran has called on Iranian authorities to expedite their investigation into the murder of a Russian truck driver from Dagestan, ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice.
In a statement released by the embassy, it was reported that on December 16, the body of a Russian citizen, identified as a truck driver from Dagestan, was discovered in a park near the city of Astara. The victim had sustained gunshot wounds.
Iranian authorities are currently investigating the incident under the close supervision of the Russian Consulate General in Rasht and the Russian Embassy in Tehran.
The Russian side has urged its Iranian counterparts to thoroughly investigate the case, prosecute the perpetrators, and restore order at the Astara border crossing.
The embassy also extended its condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim.
