WANA (June 27) – Iran presidential candidate Alireza Zakani withdrew from the 2024 race less than 24 hours before the vote.

In a post published on X, formerly known as Twitter, Zakani said that continuing the path of late Iran president Ebrahim Raeisi is more important than competing.

Zakani asked the other two Conservative candidates, Saeed Jalili and Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, to unite and not allow the third Rouhani administration to win the election.

On Wednesday, another Presidential candidate, Amir Hossein Ghazizadeh Hashemi, also withdrew from the race. Now, four remaining candidates will compete for the Presidential office on Friday.
