WANA (Oct 26) – The Communications Center of Iran’s Armed Forces issued a statement following last night’s military aggression by Israel, reaffirming Iran’s right to respond at an appropriate time and stressing the importance of a sustainable ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon to prevent further loss of innocent lives.

The full text of the Statement is as follows:

To inform the honorable and proud nation of Islamic Iran, it is stated that the Zionist enemy’s aircraft, in an open violation of international law, launched an attack early this morning, Saturday, October 26, utilizing airspace controlled by the terrorist U.S. military in Iraq, 100 kilometers from Iran’s borders. They fired several long-range air-launched missiles equipped with very light warheads, approximately one-fifth the weight of Iranian ballistic missile warheads, at some border radars in the provinces of Ilam, Khuzestan, and around Tehran. Thanks to the timely actions of the country’s air defense, limited and minor damage was inflicted, and several radar systems were damaged, with some being immediately repaired and others currently under repair.

In this unlawful and illegal act, with the readiness of the country’s air defense, a significant number of the missiles were tracked and intercepted, preventing enemy aircraft from entering the country’s airspace.

Iran, while reserving its legal and legitimate right to respond at the appropriate time, emphasizes the establishment of a lasting ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon to prevent the massacre of vulnerable and innocent people.

The terrorist and criminal U.S. government, which plays a central role in the comprehensive support of the criminal actions of the Zionist regime that disrupt the security of the region, is warned to contain this illegal and illegitimate regime to prevent the escalation of conflict and insecurity in the region and the killing of innocent people, especially in Gaza and Lebanon, and not to entrap itself and its allies further in the quagmire created by that occupying regime.

The honorable people of Iran, media outlets, experts, and specialists are requested to disregard rumors and unreliable narratives and to follow accurate news from official sources and the national media.
