WANA (Jul 17) – The Public Relations office of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a statement on Friday, claiming responsibility for a retaliatory strike against U.S. military assets stationed in Jordan.

 

The IRGC statement alleged that the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) had relocated its regional command center from Qatar to the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Al-Azraq, Jordan, following previous regional escalations.

 

The IRGC asserted that this facility, alongside other airbases in Jordan, currently hosts U.S. F-35, F-15, and F-16 fighter jets and aerial refueling tankers involved in operations across the region.

 

The announcement cited the strike as a response to alleged U.S. attacks on civilian infrastructure in Bandar Abbas, Iran, which the IRGC claimed damaged bridges, residential areas, and a water pumping station.

 

In what the IRGC identified as the 14th wave of “Operation Nasr 2,” the statement claimed that Iranian forces utilized multiple ballistic missiles and drones to target U.S. aircraft and refueling tankers stationed in Jordan. The IRGC asserted that the attack destroyed several U.S. aircraft and tankers and caused significant damage to others.

 

The statement concluded by calling on the Jordanian public and military to take action against U.S. interests within their borders.
