Ali Shamkhani is leaving the National Security Council
WANA (May 21) – Media close to the Supreme National Security Council of Iran said. “At the same time, in recent weeks, there were many rumors about Admiral Shamkhani’s intention to resign as the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council in various outlets. The publication of a meaningful poem on his personal Twitter page shows that Shamkhani’s resignation from this position after Ten years is unavoidable.”

Ali Shamkhani is an Iranian military commander and politician currently serving as the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran. He was born on September 29, 1955, in Ahvaz, Iran.
Shamkhani is a graduate of the Iran University of Science and Technology, where he earned a degree in mechanical engineering. He joined the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in 1979 and played a key role in the Iran-Iraq War as a commander of the IRGC’s ground forces. He later served as the commander of the IRGC’s naval forces and then as the Minister of Defense under President Mohammad Khatami from 1997 to 2005.
In 2013, Shamkhani was appointed by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei as the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, which is responsible for Iran’s national security policies.
Shamkhani is considered to be a conservative politician and a close ally of Ayatollah Khamenei. He has been a vocal critic of the United States and Israel and has advocated for a stronger military presence in the Persian Gulf.
