WANA (May 9) – “Hasan Rouhani,” the former president of Iran, complained about “Hasan Rahimpour Azghadi,” a member of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution, in a letter to the judiciary.

 

In a recent speech, “Rahimpour” implicitly called “Rouhani” and some people around him as a spy.

 

Hassan Rouhani believes that Rahimpour “libeled” him.

Hassan Rouhani is an Iranian politician and cleric who served as the seventh President of Iran from 2013 to 2021. He was born on November 12, 1948, in Sorkheh, Iran. Rouhani is a Moderation and Development Party member and has been a part of the Iranian political system since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

 

Hassan Rouhani served as Iran’s chief nuclear negotiator from 2003 to 2005, during which time he helped negotiate a temporary suspension of Iran’s uranium enrichment program. He was elected president in 2013, succeeding Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and was re-elected in 2017.

 

During his presidency, he pursued a policy of engagement with the West, including negotiations that led to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), an agreement between Iran and six world powers to limit Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief.

 

Hassan Rouhani’s presidency was marked by domestic and international challenges, including economic difficulties and tensions with the United States over Iran’s nuclear program. He was succeeded as president by Ebrahim Raisi in August 2021.
