WANA (Feb 21) – The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Kanani, in his weekly press conference announced yesterday (Feb 1, 2023), that in response to the recent sanctions of the European Union, Iran will soon announce new sanctions against the European Union too. On the other hand, England applied new sanctions against Iran on the same day.

 

Based on this, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran released a new list of sanctions against individuals and entities in the European Union and the United Kingdom in a statement tonight (Tuesday, Feb 21, 2023).

In the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the imposition of sanctions against certain individuals and institutions of the European Union and the British regime, it is stated: “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in accordance with the approvals of the relevant authorities and within the framework of the relevant rules and sanctions mechanisms, as a countermeasure, the following persons and institutions in the European Union and the British regime for supporting terrorism and terrorist groups, inciting and encouraging terrorist acts and violence against the people of Iran, interfering in the internal affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, promoting violence and unrest in Iran, publishing falsehoods and promoting false information about Iran, as well as participating in the escalation of oppressive sanctions against the Iranian people, which is considered economic terrorism.”

 

It is also stated in the statement: ” The Islamic Republic of Iran, while condemning the actions of the European Union and the British regime in supporting and facilitating as well as refraining from confronting the destructive actions of the mentioned individuals and institutions, which violate international obligations in the field of fighting terrorism, declares that their actions applying and intensifying cruel sanctions is a clear violation of the fundamental principles of international law contained in the United Nations Charter.”
